Mark: I have always been advised to never paint a radiator, as it affects the function. Most new Farmalls, and I've had a few in my day, came with a silver-gray even aluminum to galvinized colored radiators as painted by the rad manufacturer. I just went to my shop to check. My Super A has black and as I remember it got painted black by a guy I had paint the complete tractor 15 years ago. I remember someone advised against that shortly after it was done, his concern, paint often clogs the core fins. My 130 original has the white grill and behind it a gray radiator. My 140 has a recore and is gray as painted by the manufacturer, and again behind a white grill. Could be those silver-gray rads came with the white grills, however if I remember correctly my SA rad was silver-gray as well before the paint job. I suspect painting a rad successfully reqiures continuous air flow through the rad during the proceedure, to prevent build up of paint in and clogging the core fins. I think using care one can be successful. I do remember my 656 and 1066 both having some red overspray on rads, but only around the edges.
