If it has a 3 or 4 terminal regulator, check for battery voltage at the BAT terminal with engine running. If voltage is present, check for voltage at the GEN or ARM terminal. If no voltage at these points, try grounding the field terminal at the generator & see if the ammeter shows charge. If ammeter shows charge, remove the regulator cover & using a points file or fine abrasive cloth, clean the contacts on the field " relay"[ the one with the fine wire on it]. The armature " relay" has heavier wire & fewer turns on it. If there is no voltage at the BAT terminal, do some troubleshooting to see why voltage isn't present.
