IH-404 engine ser num / rebuild

I am going to buy an engine over haul kit for my 404. The ser num tag on the training bell housing just behind the engine is 2123j. There are 2 kits avail for the 404. one is " To ES#100500" and the other is " From ES#100501". Just want to make sure the tag I'm looking at is the right one and does this put me into the "TO ES100500 kit ? If not where is the engine ser num, I looked but can't find another, and better yet can anyone tell me what the difference is and what to look for between these engines in the 2 serial number ranges. Thanks in advance..........
