Matt, I recently Bought a MD that started the same as yours but only the first start of the day after warm-up it would start great every time. What I found out was it was a combination of small things. Old gas, linkage adjustments, lubrication of all moving parts, Carb. adjustment, ect. I don't know how much your tractor has been run ( Mine had only been started once or twice a year for the last 10 years or so)Since I have been playing with mine once a week or so it is starting better every time.Aren't those MD's neat to play with? I love it when you pull back that lever and it starts to blow those big black smoke rings!
