If your shifter has a lot of wear, you will need to push down on it fairly hard to get the pin out because the pin will have a grove worn in it. I didn't have a hoist handy when I broke the bull-gear bearing housing trying to pull it out to replace the brake seals??????? (another story) I removed the cover on my H by prying the cover up just high enough to slip a nut under each corner, then I threaded 12 inch long pieces of all-thread down through the nuts and into the housing. Then use the nuts for jacks to raise the cover evenly. After you clear the shifter rails you can put a couple of long 2x4s on edge, under the cover and slide it to the rear and down. There are some dowel pins in the cover and you need to raise the cover straight up to clear the pins. ken
