Setting the timming is just like anything else other then the fact that you do it with the engine running at full throttel and set for total advance . Now having a moment of SOMETIMERS here does it have points or one of them aftermarket electronic deals ?? As i have found that for me i can get as much if not more out of my dist setup with good old fashioned points. SOOOOoooo just maybe ya might want to find a GOOD used dist from a 263 706 and go back and try it if you are any good at setting points. Now like i said clean up the ft. pulley as the timming marks are all there and also on the flywheel under the littel plate on the right side of the bell housing and it even comes with a pointer but that pointer is not as close as the one on the ft. pulley . Use a white paint stick and mark the TDC and the 22 degree advance and go for it.
