NOBODY told you to use anything steel to pound out the pistons! Steel is BAD. If the pin slips when you hit it, steel will tear holes in the block that cannot be repaired. Instead of a rebuildable core, you will have a hunk of useless scrap iron.

At this point, you need to concentrate on driving the sleeve out of the engine, not the piston. All that work you're doing on the piston is just a waste of time; you're making holes in the TOP of the piston. The sides are still intact, and firmly rusted to the sides of the sleeves.
