The ser. # would indicate either a 55 300 or a 57 350. Since the engines can be swapped too, I'd start checking casting dates on castings other than the engine block. The letter A would be used for 1955 and the letter C was used for 1957 production year. The dates would appear like this 3*15*C. or A. The asterisk would look like a cast in slotted screw. Look at many castings, not just one to assure you what you have
