Same thing happened to me with my M. I beat on the sleeve with a hammer to crack it to get the piston out of the sleeve. I only planned on using the rod anyway. My ring were so corroded that you couldn't even tell that there were rings in it. If I were you I'd spend the money for new sleeves and pistons, or you might be tearing your motor down again real soon. It all depends on how badly coroded your sleeves are. Mine were shot.
