Mornin John, Something doesnt sound right to me !!! There is no press fit there as Gene has allready stated! No need to have that pivot shaft in the freezer. When I rebuilt the frontend on my Super A my pivot shaft was slightly bent, so I made a new one at work out of stainless steel. The bolts that go through the bottom of the steering box lock the pivot shaft in position. The pivot shaft has scallops in the shaft to prevent it from moving in or out of position. What you need to check is the fit between the bushings in the front tube abd the pivot shaft. Ideally .001-.002 would be fine. If the bushings are worn they need to be pressed out and replaced with new bushings. You would then have to ream those new bushings after they were pressed into the front tube. Hope this helps. scotty

I’m par
