I took my governor off and found a bunch of problems. The screws that hold the fork to the rocker shaft decided to back out after 47 years. Once the first screw was out the fork moved and wore against the governor weights. The main spring was almost wore completely thru. The bearings were junk. The damper sping had a coil broke off it. Fortunatlely the dealer was able to get everything I needed to rebuild it. I just have to put it back on the tractor and adjust it. The bearing end of the rockshaft was wore bad but the dealer wanted $170 for a very simple part so I welded and reground it and it's better than new. One of the benefits of being a machinist by trade. I hope you are able to get your unit fixed. Give me a shout if you have any questions.
