P, Be sure your coil and plug wires are the copper core type, not the resistor type for cars. The resistor wires don't work on mags and could cause exactly the problem you're having. I'd just replace the condensor if it's over a week old. They're usually less than $2 and are a real source of wierd problems when they go bad. Make sure the points are clean, shiny and properly gapped. I had a mag that would show a short when the points were closed, but wouldn't fire. An old tractor mechanic fixed them with a good cleaning and adjustment. Best $20 I ever spent because now I know what to look for. Phil
