I had a similar large, deep dent in my "C". I
used a piece of paper to trace the outline of
the dent and then cut a piece of sheet metal to
fit just inside the dent and below the level of
the undamaged surface. I welded that into
place using JB Weld. This allowed me to
finish with bondo, but with the sheet metal
insert, only a thin layer of bondo was
necessary. Now, the tank looks as good as
new.
