If the rod bearing is bad, most likely the crankshaft journal is bad, and the engine needs to be torn down and the crankshaft reground, if you want a repair that will last. If, by some odd chance the crank is acceptable, you need to determine what size it is... standard, or an "undersize". The old bearing insert will be stamped on the backside with "STD", ".001", ".010", ".020", etc. Also, the journal can (and should be) checked with a micrometer for size, and "out of round".
