Squirting from underneath with a oilcan and using a brush would be ok, pouring it in from the top will dilute the oil on the cylinders, and I (personally) would not do it. Use a bottle, or tube brush and ream out passages as needed, but I would not drench it. Oil the cylinder walls before assembly, and when starting it, I would use a pump oilcan and pump the gallery full of new motoroil (many pumps with a rubber tube to the oilcan into the oilpressure sending port on the block.)
