You need to remove No1 sparkplug near the radiator and bring No1 piston up to TDC on the compression stroke. You need to locate the timing mark on the flywheel and chalk it so it will be easy to see. Then have someone hand crank the engine while you hold your thumb over the plug hole. When you feel pressure against your thumb, stop turning the engine and look for your chalk mark. Once you locate the timing mark resume cranking the engine until mark is aligned. Remove the cap and see where your rotor is pointing should be at the No1 plug tower. If you had noticed where the rotor was prior to pulling the mag all you had to do was turn the rotor to that position and reinstall the mag. If the rotor is off you need to pull the mag and turn the rotor to No1 plug tower and reinstall mag. The point setting on a mag is .013" for all IH mags. Make sure your plug wires are in the correct firing sequence. 1-3-4-2 Hal
