Looks like the subject has been cover pretty well. Listen to Stan (VA), he's forgotten more about Farmall's than I'll ever know. My 230 has the C-123 with IH FireCraters (factory High Altitude Domed Pistons). Dyno'd at 32HP. I've not been able to "choke it out" before it spins out with a 2 bottom 2pt plow pulling as deep as it will go. I wouldn't temp fate and try for too much HP as you will probably be needing a couple or more bull pinion gears if you do. Ever pull a letter series X30 series Farmall trans??? You may have to learn. Don't mean to be snide but the IH engineers probably knew what they were doing when they designed everything together. Good luck with your 230. They are great tractors! Bobg in VA
