Yep done more then one engine that way when they wouldn't turn loose with tranny fluid and or turpentine or a mix of the 2. What it does is heats the block and sleeves but not the piston and rings. Also gets the tranny fluid hot and thinner and it sort of creeps down and around things better that way.
