Tom, the differences in the gasoline carb, and the distillate carb, are very slight, in fact, the only difference is that the main metering tubes have different part numbers. I suspect that the orifices in the distillate metering tube are larger than in the gas carb. If you have the distillate carb, you can replace the metering tube with one from a gas carb, but since distillate fuel has not been available for at least 30 to 40 years now, I suspect that your dist. carb has already been upgraded, and even if it hasn't you can still use it with gas, and probably will not notice any difference. You can tell the difference in the heads by just looking, you need to remove the valve cover, and the part number is cast into the head. I'll have to dig out my parts manual and find what those numbers are.
