i have a pretty good idea of what an old m block will withstand. At 4500 rpm or less you can get by with a girdle on the center main. counter-ballanced crank is a real good option if you want it to stay together over 4500 and around 45# boost.you will need a 2 or 3 disc clutch to hold the engine while you build boost.a steel flywheel will be a very good safty aspect. i have seen the results of a cast flywheel at hi rpm"s, cut the tractor into 2 pieces..
