Just take the air cleaner hose off temporarily, if it still runs the same, then you've eliminated the air cleaner as a problem. However, my guess would be that its more likely that you are not getting full fuel flow to the carb. Sometimes you have to actually drain the tank and unscrew the sediment bowl from the bottom of the tank and clean it out. Their may be crud that floats around in the tank and settles in where the fuel flows into the sediment bowl. Let us know what you find.
