Hi Leon, I believe the hydraulic setup on 424 is similar to 434. When you are sitting on the seat the knob at your right hand controls the valve that directs hydraulic oil flow to either 3 pt hitch (open) or auxiliary outlet (closed) if tractor is equiped with aux. outlet. The knob at your left hand controls the rate of hydraulic oil flow to 3pt hitch. It is usually labelled fast/slow. When it is "Fast" position it allows 6 GPM to 3 pt hitch and in "Slow" position 3 GPM oil flow to 3 pt hitch. The "Slow" position is push in and 1/2 turn to lock in position.

You are correct about auxiliary outlet going on pipe plug at the bottom of the 3 pt/aux valve.
The IH auxiliary line had a banjo fitting on the end that attached at the front of the seat and the other end came out by 3pt top link with a standard hydraulic quick coupler.

To operate the auxilary remote, position the 3 pt hitch raise/lower control lever in the center of its travel, next close the 3pt/aux control valve. Now when the 3pt hitch control lever is moved upward it will direct oil to the remote cylinder causing it to lift the implement and moving the 3pt hitch lever downward will lower the remote implement.

Pros, cheap solution for single acting remote cylinder.
Cons, can't use 3 pt hitch and remote together and dosen't support double acting cylinders.

Hope this helps

Today's Featured Article - On the Road with Dave Gohl: Tractors and Farming - by Dave Gohl. I never thought I'd live to see the day, when I could call myself a farmer. What allows me to say this? Well, when our family moved to our 20 acre site near New Prague, Minnesota, I had one thought in mind. You guessed it, farm it somehow. A little history is in order. In my younger days, mom, dad and my brother made frequent visits to dad's youngest brother Pete, who took over the home farm from grandpa MIke. It was the typical set-up, milk cows, pigs & chickens. In the winter, we'd play ... [Read Article]
