I never like to tell someone what tractor he or in some cases She may need . This all depends on what the person is planing on using the tractor for . I don't care what tractor ya buy they are all OLD tractors and alot of them were just used tomuch when they were new and as with anything made by man it will break . Yes you can FIX REPAIR REBUILD and make it into what ya want . All the gassers use gas these are tractor engines and are not a small tonka toy they use gas and today with the price of gas or even diesel ya had better figure on spending over 50 bucks a day to play . On the later 6 cylinder gassers they do reguier 93 octain gas this is the lowest octain fuel that should be run in theses engines READ THE OWNER MANUAL on fuel req. and to fill a 460-856 gasser it is going to get into the piggy bank . Guys think that owning diesels cost less not realy as i have owned both over the years and worked them in the fields . We run a 706 gasser that has been upgraded from a 263 to a 291 and a 806 diesel and if they are doing the same thing i do not thnk that there is more then 5 gallon a day in fuel differance as at the end of the day they both need fuel . But when the 806 goes down for and overhaul we ain't going to get away with just a 600 dollar kit for her and a 400 dollar head job or two dollar spake plugs it will be a 3000 dollar engine rebuild no less then 650 bucks for the injection pump and 60 bucks each for injectors and over a grand in the head.
