Tom, Many Voltage Regulators are Bi Polar and will still work REGARDLESS of battery polarity while others may still work but not last quite so long if used in the opposite polarity they were designed for. Youre correct its ONLY the Gennys that gets polarized NOT the VR. If one reverses battery polarity but does NOT correctly repolarize the genny, it can be harmful to the VR however. John T
