The nut welded on usually works good, partially because of the heat you are forcing into it. If you break the welded nut off a time or two, and lose the nerve to try again, grind outside of broken stud flush, and center punch carefully, and start drilling out a little at a time, making sure you are drilling squarely. If you have access to left handed drill bits, they are a good thing. I have never had a whole lot of luck with conventional easy-outs, once they break off in the hole, they can be a ba%$ard to remove. HTH Mark
