OLD FARMALLS

morning ever since i got my old farmall i have been more aware of the old tractors around. now it seems that i look for them when i travel around the country. and i have put a few miles on i the last month. last nigth i saw something i had forgotten about it been there for years (i look for farmalls especially ). years ago some one put what looks like an old farmall buckbill up on a hill overlooking the valley on old us rt 22 weat of lewistown pa. it sits there like it is surveying the land it may of once farmed kind of gets to you . now some one has put up an american flag on a pole behind it . they keep it mowed around and neet so i think it may have a purpose to its being there. by chance has any of you folks seen this i can remember it when i was a kid.

Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
