I second the motion on seeking John T's advice. And I'm all for keeping the 6 volt. The archives suggest that many 12 volt conversions are done just to solve problems that should be fixed in the 6 volt system anyway. Also I just finished rewiring a 240 and it was only about $55. When I add in the peace of mind that I get from knowing it is RIGHT that means a lot to me. I don't mean to insult your intelligence but you did polarize the generator? I don't know what would happen if it weren't done but these forums said "Do it"; so I did and I haven't had problems.
