Mark: I wouldn't get too hung up on the cause, it happens from time to time and I've had it happen on relatively new tractors. Just straighten or replace and make sure that particular valve and rocker arm are moving freely. It could be a bit of rust, and you may find no visable cause. In my many year with tractors, I've had about 5 push rods bend, and it wasn't always 50 year old tractors. Had it happen to a 1066 with 20 hours on meter, 656 with roughly 2,000 hours. The others I remember were older.
