Hi Joe, DID I rebuild that mag for you? No no gasket under the dist cap. When does it make the noise ? all the time? at idle? when cranking? I mean a trip does sound something like that I guess when it supposed to trip. I have heard of some mags that get rebuilt with aftermarket caps and they are not right and break the rotor becuase they do not hit right. Is your rotor setting down in position right its hard to tell. But if there was to much grease under it and they could not tighten it down it may be to high causing problems on the cap. Or maybe it has the wrong trip or installed wrong or came apart underneath where the little clips hold the pawls in. You will not be able to see those unless you take the trip off with a puller. Email me or give some more information. JON
