If it is like my 2444/444 then there is a plug on the side of right hand side of tranny. Fill till fluid comes out that plug.

Does yours only have the one engine mounted hydraulic pump ? If it also has a front mounted pump driven from the front crank pulley then the level is 6 inches down from the top of the filler plug beside the shifter. Which is about 5 gal more than without the auxilliary pump.

There is also a suction screen on the end of the suction line where it goes into the lift box on the rear of the tractor. This could be plugged causing poor hydraulic performance. Or water in the fluid ?
