Dean, Contrary to what the other posts suggest, there is no connection between the hydraulic oil system and the transmission oil system on a 434. The 434 hydraulics is a self contained unit under the seat with a fill plug at the right rear upper corner of the housing. The hydaulics should be filled with HY Tran oil so that there is about a 1/2" air space between the top of the oil and the housing. The transmssion oil is checked with a level plug on the side of the transmission just ahead of the left footboard. Oil is added through the big plug beside the gear shift. It is fairly common for 434's to be contaminated with water in the transmssion so look at the oil and if is milky, you probably should change it. The transmission uses #90 EP (extreme pressure) gear oil. Don
