Thanks to you and the other fellows for the info about the coil and condenser. I live in a city so, I had to drive the tractor all the way down to Bobby's Hide-A-Way Lounge to see if the coil got hot. (8 miles.) Had an ice cold "elixer" and drove back home. As one familiar with these old machines might expect, it never started running rough this time. Anyway, I felt the coil as soon as I got home. It was so hot I could not even hold my hand on it for more than a second or two. So, I am suspicious of it. I am also suspicious of my gas old gas cap. I cannot see an external vent hole in the center. Got a new cap coming anyway. My wife is suspicious of the need to drive the tractor all the way to Bobby's Hide-A-Way Lounge to test the coil. mike
