Hi Terry, I don't have I&T shop service manual for 454 but have it for 684. 684 has basically the same engine with 4 cyl as to 3 cyl for 454. According to I&T shop service manual to replace the rear main seal, split, remove flywheel and seal retainer noting position of seal. There are special instructions so buy a manual. My brother's 684 had always leaked a little engine oil at the clutch inspection cover. It never got on the clutch pads as it leaked down behind the flywheel. So when we did a clutch job on it and had the flywheel off to be ground we noticed the main seal housing bolts were all loose. Tightened to spec and hasn't leaked a drop since. Hytran can also leak out of the PTO shaft seal. Hope this helps JB2
