When I torque down heads I like to do it in three steps. Oil the threads and start out with the bolts a little more than finger tight, then in this case I would torque them to 35 ft lbs in sequence, then to 70 in the same sequence, then to 110 in the same sequence. Then run back over them at 110. Once you've had it up to temp and under a load, wait until it's cool enough to work on but not totally cold, and in the same sequence, crack each bolt loose and take it right back to 110 one at a time. Run back over them without cracking them loose and you're done. I've done this on countless engines and have always had good results.
