There may be a dipstick in the filler neck for the pump. That's under the "knob" on the fill pipe that comes straight up from the pump on the top of the casting opposite the starter. Probably at least half of those dipsticks have disappeared over the years; some have simply fallen into the reservoir below. You can probably find a post in the archives about the proper length for the dipstick. I think they were made in two pieces linked together in the middle so it would clear the gas tank when removed. The "Lift-All" or belly-pump in the Stage 1 SM uses SAE 30 NON-detergent oil. You can find the stuff at most autoparts stores, and sometimes at Wal-Mart. They WILL operate on IH HY-Tran oil that is used in later tractors, but if the pump is worn, you may not get full pressure. If you don't find the info on the dipstick, just add oil until it completely lifts whatever you're trying to lift, then add just a little more! Don't ever let it run dry!

I tried to use an easy out but it wasn't budging and I didn't want t
