Tune up from hell on '41 A w/ H4 magneto (%#@ cheap parts!)

Man - hard starts all winter would've been easier than this week. Bought Tisco (3rd world) points, condenser & cap from local tractor guru. No spark. Two nights later the Mag goes back to the guru for diagnosis: problem, the new points shorted out against the mag housing. Ten seconds on the grinder and the points are fit for service. Got the mag home, installed per manual (install @ tdc #1, rotor pointing to #1, rotate one rev of engine, then loosen mag & reinstall); this causes spark @ #1 wire at #3 tdc. Trial & error for 90 minutes showed 1 and 1/2 revs to be proper rotation for reinstallation. Sure was nice to hear her roar after so much &%$#@! Between the cheap parts and the typo/mistake in the manual, I almost got buried in snow!
