Sorta off the subject, but when you mentioned wartime it reminded me. My dad purchased a new H, April 25, 1944. It is serial # 155527. Inside the owners manual is a "slipsheet".
The sheet is titled "War quality farm tires"

It lists 11 tips for making the tires last longer and perform properly.

#2 says "They are of war qualilty materials as stipulated by government regulations"

Just thought that was interesting, not really what you guys were talking about.
