Well, based on what's left of the numbers you see, you should be able to put a 2 or a 3 ahead of your 5-digit number and get the serial number. As mentioned, the casting codes will get you mighty close. The engine serial number won't match the number on your plate and may or may not tell you much. (And that assumes that's the originial engine block!) FWIW, here's a couple things I look at on a Super A to gauge age, before I ever look at the serial number: -Does it have sealed beam (the "pancake" shaped) headlights or the teardrop shaped lights? Teardrops are earlier, pre-1953. -Does it have ball and socket tie rod ends or the newer automotive tie rods that bolt on? (Beware, some have been converted) -Does it have the small steering wheel or the big one? A big steering wheel could indicate a 1954 Super A-1. -If still 6 volt, is the regulator/cutout on top of the generator (older), or underneath(newer)? Hope this helps Al
