Was IH's demise inevitable or was it internal sabatoge? Seems hard to believe that the poor design of two tractors could start a globally strong company in such a downward spiral. Same thing happened to snowmobile manufacturer Chaparral in mid 70's. Insulation that kept falling down on the motor among a few other stupid design flaws "sank their ship". Read the 1884 entries about Case burning and replacing a thresher for a farmer stating it never should have left the factory. If more companies approached failures with that same spirit, they maybe wouldn't have fialed. Seems they give up from the inside out. Look at Harley Davidson... ll
