When the engine vibrates at specific speeds, the tach needle will move some. This indicates that the tach guts may be out of lube, or worn. If it will spin with a drill as TV indicates, it will probably work. Automotive universal spedometer cables will replace the old cable with a little patience and ingenuity. Lube the new cable with graphite based chassis grease (ford spec) to assure a longer than original life. If there is rust in the housing (outside flexible part of the cable) it must be cleaned up or replaced. Good luck, JimN
