Yes , if your going to pull that range transmission cover ya have to also pull the cliped corner plate off the left side so you cancatch rev. shift fork and remove the key from the rev shaft and this is best done with and extra pair of hands also ya want to make sure that the park pawl is held in the unlock posision . Then while ya got it off it is the best time to install the spring loaded park lock . That why when it is in park it ain't going nowhere. If ya run into problems let me know i'll try and help ya the best i can as for the brake shaft comming out ain't never seen one do that as they are pinned in your going to have to look and see what happened there.
