H Clutch Rod Problem

Everything is new (or rebuilt), but the clutch rod is too short when the clearence between the throw-out brg. and clutch fingers is 3/16". Its actually about where it was before I started repairs. The rod only screws less than half way into the clevis. This doesn't leave much for any future adjustment. Has anyone else ran into this problem on their H? ken
