JM, You didn't say, but is the battery really spinning the tractor over pretty snappily. Not somewhat slow. Have you tried putting a big batt charger on it to see it it would help. You might not be turring it over fast enough...Just a thought.
My 966 when thje batt get low or old and wont holf a charge as well as when it was newer will act the same way. Good Luck.
