460 Gas had the C-221, 560 Gas had the C-263. Those two engines, and also the C-291 and C-301, share the same basic block design. If I remember right, the 315 combine had the C-221. I think the very early 315"s might have even had the BD-220 truck engine, which the tractor six-cylinder gas engines were based off of. Yes, the six-cylinder gassers will bolt up to the M clutch housing. I have seen a few installed in M"s, they look very neat if a good job of lengthening the frame rails is done. With a little work and money, just about any IH tractor engine will go into an M, even a DT-466. That would tear up the rear end in short order if it was put in the feild.
