Bill,
Look just above the front spark plug. There is a flat spot at the top edge of the block with the engine number stamped in it. The numbers may not match exactly, but they will be pretty close. Also, casting codes will provide some indication of age, but not serial number accuracy. You're pretty lucky as Super M's were only made for a relatively few years compared to regular M's. Phil
