Adjusting 460 Diesel Valves

Does anyone know if there is an easy way to adjust the valves in a 460 diesel? The head was planed and is back on. The valve clearance is supposed to be .027, set hot. I am not sure what clearance to start out at for the cold setting. I read .002 to .003 in an old posting on this board, but I haven't verified that will work ok. The books says to start on the #1 cyl, compression stroke. Adjust #1 and then rotate the crank 1/3 to the next cyl in the firing order which is #5 (I belive). Adjust 5 and rotate on to the next cyl., etc. To do this, now that I have the vlaves "backed-off", I believe I'll need to pull the each injector for each cylinder to tell when it reaches TDC (wire through hole). Also,I'll have to remove the valve cover when hot. This will be somewhat tricky because of the lack of clearance (fuel tank) and the wiring. I have it on TDC right now, but I am not sure I have it on the compressions stroke. All of the injectors are currently out. The valves rods are loose, but all of the valves have been backed off. The injector pump lines are matched up in the pump window. How does one verify for sure this is TDC-compression stroke. Is there a way to tell by the tension on a different valve? There is a simpler method for some diesels, but I do not know if it will work on the 460. Six of the valves can be adjusted on the compression stroke, #1 cyl. Rotate the flywheel 360 degrees and the other 6 can be adjusted. I don't know if a method like this will work on this tractor. Thanks.
