Help on Generators

I am having little success getting the generator/voltage regulator to show charge on my Super A. I recently spent $120 to have a generator rebuilt. I spent $40 for a new regulator. I spend $20 on a new amp meter. I've checked every wire on the harness to make sure they go to the right place. I polarized the generator (Temporarily touch Armature to Battery). I rev up the engine to half throttle. Still I show no charge on the amp meter. What have I missed?
