You should have one soleniod engaged for one side and the other for the other side. But,if you can stop the tractor in gear without stalling the engine There's a clutch slipping somewhere and those odd and even won't take much slipping to be fried. may have lost bearing preload on the clutch shaft and losing pressure there, those tractors aren't easily serviced internally without the nessary stands and skates,everything is heavy. Your best bet is to contact your local Case-IH dealer that is familar with 88's.And get them to run some pressure tests And if it's internal it will be expensive!!!!!!
