I would do a complete tuneup with new copper wires, points and condenser to eliminate these. If you have an inline fuel filter I would replace it too. Be sure to use a fuel filter for a gravity fed fuel system and not the filters used with a fuel pump. You may want to take a look at your coil's fire when cranking to see if your new coil is weak.

Pull the coil wire from the cap and hold within 1/8-1/4" of a good ground, then have someone to crank the engine with the starter. Should have a hot spark. You may want to use a pair of insulated pliers, so you don't get bitten. Hal
