If you only put one seal in per side, I think you"ll be sorry...it will probably leak. The originals had to be that wide for a reason. I thought I could get away with one seal being mr. macho mechanic (30 yr.) but I shot myself in the foot as the saying goes. The new seals are narrow enough to pop in two. Install with both seal lips inward and pack the gap between them with a good grease 360 degrees around, grease the seal surface of the drum and reassemble. You won"t have that problem for a long time. (provided the bearings aren"t sloppy)...Randy
